Texthyper

Help

Saving from any browser, the keyboard shortcuts, moving your library over from another app, and the API.

Save from any browser

The bookmarklet is a bookmark that saves the page you're on. It works in any desktop browser, including the ones we don't have an extension for yet.

  1. Show your bookmarks bar: ⌘ Shift B on a Mac, Ctrl Shift B on Windows and Linux.
  2. Drag this button onto the bar:
  1. On a page you want to keep, click it. Texthyper saves the page and shows your list. If you're not logged in, you log in first and the page is saved after.

Can't drag? Make a new bookmark and paste this as its address:

The bookmarklet sends the page's address and Texthyper fetches it, so pages behind a login or a paywall save better with the browser extension, which sends the page as you see it. On iPhone and iPad, share to the Texthyper app.

Keyboard shortcuts

Everything in the web app has a key. Press ? anywhere in the app to see this map. On Windows and Linux, use Ctrl where it shows ⌘.

Moving from another app

Export your library from the app you use now, then upload the file in Settings → Library. Texthyper works out the format. Pages you already saved are skipped and their highlights merged in; everything new is extracted and archived in the background.

Where to find your export

Pocket
Pocket closed in 2025; upload the zip or CSV it emailed you, or an older ril_export.html.
Instapaper
Settings → Export → Download .CSV file.
Readwise Reader
Preferences → Export → Export documents (CSV). For highlights, readwise.io → Export → CSV.
Matter
Matter has no bulk export; connect its Obsidian integration, then zip the folder of Markdown files it writes.
Omnivore
Upload the zip from your Omnivore export email (metadata, content and highlights folders).
GoodLinks
Settings → Export → JSON.
wallabag
Config → Export → JSON (all entries).
Raindrop.io
Settings → Backups → Export CSV.
Safari Reading List, Chrome, Firefox
Export bookmarks as HTML; the Reading List is one of the folders.
Kindle
Download an article as EPUB (⋯ menu in the reader, or select several and press Download) and send it to your Kindle. Highlights you make there come back from documents/My Clippings.txt on the device, or from the notebook export the Kindle app emails. They are matched to the article by title and anchored in its text.
Import your library

Leaving works the same way: Settings → Library → Export gives you everything in formats other apps read.

API and MCP

Everything the apps do goes through a documented JSON API. Create a token in Settings → Account → API tokens and build your own thing on top.

Delete your account

You can delete your Texthyper account yourself, whether you use the web app or the apps for iPhone, iPad and Android.

  1. In the iPhone, iPad or Android app, open Settings and choose Delete account. On the web, log in at app.texthyper.com with your email address and the code we send you, and go to Delete account at the bottom of Settings.
  2. Confirm: in the apps, with a code we email you; on the web, by typing your email address.

Deletion is immediate and can't be undone, so export your library first in Settings → Library if you want to keep it. We delete your articles, highlights, notes, folders, tags, sessions, API tokens, imports and exports straight away, and the stored files soon after. Deleted data can remain in our encrypted backups until those backups expire. See the privacy policy for details.

To delete only some of your data, delete articles (with their highlights and notes) or single highlights in any of the apps. They are removed from our servers and from your other devices.
